NEW HAVEN POLICE ARREST TWO FOR GUN INCIDENT NEAR SCHOOL
(5/28/2009) NEW HAVEN- New Haven Police arrested two individuals for a gun-related incident that occurred at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Officers received a complaint about individuals involved with a suspicious vehicle in the 500 block of George Street. Three officers responded to the scene where a firearm was located inside of the vehicle. Officers immediately arrested 19-year-old Shaine Barrett on charges of having a weapon inside of a motor vehicle, pistol without a permit and interference. The second suspect, 20-year-old Marquais Mack fled the scene by foot in the neighborhood bounded by George, Waverley and Orchard Streets (along the perimeter of the Vincent Mauro School) but, after a pursuit, was apprehended by police. As a precaution, Officers ordered the Vincent Mauro School to be locked down during the pursuit and until the suspects were transported out of the area. Mack was also charged with having a weapon inside of a motor vehicle, pistol without a permit and interference.
